How it works
Global + Company scope: These items exist globally for everyone. If you add company-specific versions (e.g., your own “Finance” department), they appear alongside the global ones in pickers and reports.
Always available in dropdowns: When creating users, configuring payroll, or tagging spend, the app now shows both your company items and the global defaults so you can move immediately.
Safe to override: You can rename, hide, or replace defaults with company-specific items at any time without affecting other companies.
Why this helps
Faster onboarding: New tenants can run payroll and set up teams without a long configuration step.
Cleaner data: Consistent starting values reduce one-off labels like “N/A” or “—”.
Lower admin load: Fewer required fields to configure before first use.
Admin guidance
Keep or customize: If
Standard / General / Monthlymatch your processes, keep them. If not, add company-specific values (e.g.,Hourly,Bi-weekly,Engineering,Contractor) and set those as your operational defaults.Subcategories: Start blank intentionally—create only what you actually need (e.g., under
GeneralcreateEquipment,Travel, etc.).Reporting impact: Global defaults appear in analytics just like company entries; filters let you separate them if desired.
Backward compatibility
Existing companies are not changed. Defaults only fill gaps where no company-specific values exist.
No impact on historical records.
FAQs
Can we remove the global items? You can hide them from your day-to-day use by setting company-specific values and using those in forms and templates.
Will this affect our payroll cadence? No—
Monthlyis only a starting point for new companies. Your current settings remain unchanged.
