Gangmates Release Notes: v2025.02.01
Release Date: February 21, 2025 Environment: Stage/Prod Version: 2025.02.01
Summary of This Release:
Organizational Enhancements:
Expanded User Structure: A new Department dropdown is now available when creating or editing users. Internally, this department is linked with its parent Business Unit, ensuring a more accurate representation of your organizational hierarchy.
Permission & Access Improvements:
Granular Permission Control: Users with create, edit, or delete permissions for tasks, objectives, or goals can now manage items that they personally own or those owned by their department. Without “view all” permissions, you will only see tasks belonging to your department or the objectives that belong to the business unit that oversees your department.
Dynamic Ownership Dropdowns:
For Goals: When creating or editing goals, dynamic dropdowns allow you to choose the ownership type—group, business unit, department, team, or user. The dropdowns list all options within your company, making it easy to assign the correct ownership.
For Objectives and Tasks: When managing objectives and tasks, you can only select the business units or departments that you own, ensuring clarity in responsibility and accountability.
User Interface Enhancements:
Improved Mobile Experience: Action buttons on the invoice show page have been adjusted so they remain visible without scrolling on smaller devices.
Enhanced Visibility: Edit and delete buttons on goals, objectives, and tasks view pages are now clearly visible to users with the appropriate permissions.
Bug Fixes:
Top Up Wallet Permission: Resolved an issue where the top up amount entry page was not displayed even when the permission was granted.
Additional Permissions:
New permissions have been added to the system, including “view all tasks,” “view all objectives,” and “view all goals,” which provide enhanced control over data access.
Detailed Release Notes:
A. Organizational Structure Enhancements
New Department Field for Users:
What’s New: The users table now includes nullable fields for team, group, business unit, and department. In practice, when you create or edit a user, you will now see a Department dropdown.
How It Works: The selected department is automatically linked with its parent Business Unit, ensuring that your organizational structure is accurately maintained.
Business Benefit: This streamlined approach helps you precisely assign users to the correct organizational unit, enabling more effective task and goal assignments.
B. Permission & Access Control
Granular Management Rights:
Enhanced Editing and Viewing: With the new permissions model, if you have permissions to create, edit, or delete tasks, objectives, or goals, you can manage these items that you personally own or those owned by your department or business unit.
Restricted Visibility: Without “view all” permissions, your view is limited to the items directly associated with your department or business unit, ensuring that you only see what’s relevant to your role.
Dynamic Ownership Dropdowns:
For Goals: Dynamic dropdowns are now available during goal creation and editing. You can choose the ownership type—group, business unit, department, team, or user—with all available options within your company being displayed.
For Objectives & Tasks: When creating or editing objectives and tasks, you can only select business units or departments that you own, making it clear who is responsible for each item.
C. User Interface & Mobile Enhancements
Optimized Invoice Page:
Fixed Action Buttons: On the invoice show page, action buttons have been repositioned so they remain fixed and visible on smaller devices, enhancing the mobile user experience.
Consistent Management Buttons:
Visible Controls: Edit and delete buttons on goal, objective, and task view pages are now consistently visible to users with the appropriate permissions, ensuring management actions are easily accessible.
D. Bug Fixes & Additional Permissions
Bug Fix – Top Up Wallet Access:
Resolved an issue where users with top up wallet permissions were unable to see the top up amount entry page.
New Permissions Added:
The system now includes additional permissions for “view all tasks,” “view all objectives,” and “view all goals” for greater control over data access.
