📢 What Changed & Why It Matters
🏛️ Nigeria's New Tax Law is Now Active
On January 1, 2026, Nigeria's new tax law took effect. We've updated Gangmates to automatically handle the changes so you don't have to worry about calculations.
What This Means for You:
Your payslips now show the correct tax relief based on when you're paid
If you pay rent, you can save more on taxes (up to ₦500,000/year!)
Everything updates automatically - no manual work needed

1. Smart Payslip Labels
Who benefits: Everyone who gets paid
What changed: Your payslips now show different labels depending on when you were paid:
Paid before 2026? → Shows "CRA Allowance" (old system)
Paid in 2026 or later? → Shows "Rent Relief" (new system)
Why this helps:
No confusion about which tax system applies
Your old payslips still look correct
Easy to understand your tax breakdown

2. Update Your Rent & Save on Taxes
Who benefits: Everyone who pays rent
What's new: You can now tell Gangmates how much rent you pay each year. The system automatically calculates your tax savings.
How it works:
Go to your Profile page
Find "Annual Rent" in your Personal Data section
Click the edit button (✏️)
Enter your total yearly rent
See your tax savings instantly
Tax Savings Calculator:
₦1,200,000
₦240,000
20% of your rent
₦3,000,000
₦500,000
Maximum allowed
₦600,000
₦120,000
20% of your rent
Real Example:
If you pay ₦100,000 rent per month (₦1.2M/year), you'll save ₦240,000 on taxes!
Important:
Maximum tax relief is ₦500,000 (even if you pay more rent)
You must actually pay rent to claim this relief
Update this anytime your rent changes
3. Download Invoices as PDF
Who benefits: Anyone who creates or approves invoices
What's new: You can now download any invoice as a professional PDF document with one click.
What's included in the PDF:

How to use:
Open any invoice
Click "Download PDF" button at the bottom
PDF saves automatically to your computer
