🎉 New Feature: Partial Payments for Sales Invoices
We've added Partial Payments to Sales Invoices! Your customers can now pay invoices in installments instead of the full amount at once.

How It Works
For You (Invoice Creator)
When creating a Sales Invoice, you now have a new option:
☑️ Allow Partial Payments
When checked, you can optionally set a Minimum Payment Amount per transaction.
Example:
Invoice Total: ₦50,000
Minimum Payment: ₦5,000 (optional)
Customer can pay: ₦5,000, ₦10,000, ₦20,000... up to ₦50,000
If you don't set a minimum, customers can choose any amount.
For Your Customer
Your customer receives the invoice email as usual, but now they see:
Payment Progress (if they've made payments before)
Shows how much they've paid
Shows how much is remaining
Visual progress bar
Payment Options
⚪ Pay Full Remaining Balance
⚪ Pay Custom Amount
Real-time Calculation
As they type an amount, the breakdown updates
Shows transaction fee (1.5%)
Shows total they'll pay
Shows remaining balance after payment
Example Customer Journey
Invoice Created: ₦50,000
Staff Action: Create invoice, enable partial payments, set ₦5,000 minimum
First Payment: ₦20,000
Customer: Pays ₦20,000 (+ ₦300 fee = ₦20,300 total) Status: Partially Paid (40%) Your Wallet: Credited ₦20,000
Second Payment: ₦30,000
Customer: Returns to link, pays remaining ₦30,000 (+ ₦450 fee = ₦30,450) Status: Paid ✅ Your Wallet: Credited ₦30,000
Total Collected: ₦50,000 Total Fees: ₦750 (same as if paid all at once)

How to Enable
Creating New Invoice:
Go to Finance → Invoices → Sales Invoice
Fill in customer and invoice details as usual
NEW: Look for "Payment Options" section
☑️ Check "Allow Partial Payments"
(Optional) Enter "Minimum Payment Amount"
Click Create Invoice
That's it! Your customer can now pay in installments.
Important Notes
Transaction Fees
1.5% fee applies to each partial payment
If invoice paid in one payment: 1.5% fee
If invoice paid in two payments: 1.5% fee on each
Total fees are the same either way
Payment Security
Each payment is separate and secure
15-minute payment window per transaction
Customer can return to link anytime to pay more
VAT & Stamp Duty
Still calculated normally
Applied to total invoice amount
Tracked for FIRS remittance when fully paid
No Extra Work for You
Invoice creation process unchanged (just one checkbox)
Payments automatically update status
Wallet credited immediately per payment
Complete audit trail maintained
FAQs
Q: Can I enable partial payments on existing invoices? A: No, this setting is only available when creating new invoices.
Q: Can I force a payment schedule (e.g., 3 installments)? A: Not yet. Currently, customers choose their own amounts. We're considering scheduled installments for a future update.
Q: What if a customer overpays? A: The system prevents overpayment. Customers can't pay more than the remaining balance.
Q: Can customers see their payment history? A: Yes! When they open the invoice link, they see their complete payment history and progress.
Q: Does this work with VAT invoices? A: Yes! VAT and Stamp Duty are calculated on the total invoice amount as usual. Customers pay portions of the total.
Q: What about FIRS remittance? A: VAT remittance works the same way. Remit VAT after the invoice is fully paid.
Q: Is there a deadline for customers to complete payment? A: No automatic deadline. However, you can still manually cancel unpaid or partially paid invoices if needed.
Q: Can I see which invoices are partially paid? A: Yes! Look for the yellow "Partially Paid" badge in your invoice list with the percentage paid.
